General information on osteopathic medical professions

Since some osteopathic medical schools require a letter of recommendation from a DO, and most (if not all) schools value a letter from a DO who knows you even if they don't require one. Here are some suggestions:
1.  Network with health professionals, friends, and relatives to find out if they know any DOs in your area
2.  Check out the listing on the Osteopathic Physicians & Surgeons of California website
3.  Look up physicians in the yellow pages of phone books (not just under DOs; many are listed under specialties or other headings)
4.  Email the predoctoral education department at the American Osteopathic Association  <predoc@osteopathic.org> for information on shadowing.
